Register for Northbrook Park District’s Safety Town Program for Children 4-6

The Northbrook Park District’s upcoming Safety Town program will give children ages 4 to 6 the opportunity to learn about safety, whether on a bus, bicycle, at the pool or around the house. Each day of the program will feature a different topic. The program runs 10am-12pm, Tuesday through Friday, starting next week and ending May 31 (no class on Memorial Day).

Kids’ Fishing Derby Back This Saturday at Wood Oaks Green Park

Grab your fishing rod and get ready for the free Kids’ Fishing Derby on Saturday, one of the most popular family activities offered by the Northbrook Park District. The free event at picturesque Lake Shermerville at Wood Oaks Green Park typically attracts about 300 children ranging from little ones to teenagers.

Beloved Classic Musical ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ at Northbrook Theatre

The Northbrook Park District is excited to invite the community to enjoy theater performances of the beloved classic musical “Fiddler on the Roof” next week. The production by Northbrook Community Theatre features a cast of more than 30 actors, ranging from children to older adults. Performances will take place May 17-19 at Northbrook Theatre.

The magic of Northbrook-On-Ice is coming back this weekend to the Northbrook Park District’s Sports Center, with performances from May 10-12. New this year is a special sensory friendly performance on May 9, designed for audiences who want a quieter and less bright, but still dazzling, version of the show.

Wescott Park Playground Replacement Project

The Northbrook Park District continues the planning process for the replacement in 2024 of the play structure for 2 to 5 year olds at Wescott Park, 1820 Western Avenue. This playground was installed in 2005 and is reaching the end of its life cycle. Currently, this 4.1 acre park offers softball fields, a playground and walking path. Future plans include the installation of new tot playground equipment in the existing curbed space.

Greenfield Park Improvements Project

The Northbrook Park District continues the planning process for renovations in 2024 at Greenfield Park, 2950 Harbor Lane. This playground was installed in 2003 and is reaching the end of its life cycle. Currently, this 4.9 acre park offers T-ball fields, a softball field, a half basketball court, open space and a playground. This project currently includes the removal and replacement of the playground equipment, the installation of ADA access to the basketball court and seating area and renovations to the basketball court.

The Northbrook Park District’s Techny Prairie Activity Center (TPAC) successfully met the stringent criteria set by UL Solutions and achieved the UL Verified Ventilation and Filtration Mark, the first of its kind to measure the efficacy of ventilation and filtration systems in removing aerosols from enclosed spaces. TPAC is the first parks and recreation facility to undergo an assessment and receive this verification from UL Solutions.

Dog Training Classes for Puppies and Up Now Available

Would you like your puppy to get used to being around people and other dogs, and learn not to be afraid of thunderstorms?
