Connect with nature in a Northbrook Park!   We have volunteer opportunities and outdoor activities and classes all designed to get you outdoors enjoying your local parks.

Access to Fishing – April through October

Go fish! Northbrook Park District residents can borrow rods and reels at no cost to use at Techny Prairie Park and Fields or Lake Shermerville in Wood Oaks Green Park. A refundable deposit allows you to borrow equipment from the Techny Prairie Center Monday-Saturday between 9am and 5pm. The Access to Fishing program, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, makes the equipment available. Anglers under 16 years of age, and persons declared legally disabled or blind, may fish without a license. State of Illinois fishing laws apply at both locations.
