Presidential award-winning historian Barry Bradford will take us on a time capsule look at 1948 – America 75 years ago. We will examine what famous people were born and died that year, the top news stories, music, movies, and more. Among the fascinating topics that will be covered include the establishment of Israel, the upset election of Harry Truman, and the rise of television.

The day begins with the annual Liberty Loop & Lap at Techny Prairie Park & Fields in the morning, followed by the Northbrook 4th of July parade down Cherry and Cedar Lane in the afternoon, and finishes with the big Northbrook 4th of July fireworks display in the evening.

Tuesdays in the Park are back at Village Green Park! Grab your chair or picnic blanket and head over to enjoy fun performances in the park, different every week. Entertainment for younger audiences starts at 6:30pm, and all ages entertainment at 7:15pm. Be sure to stop by the Northbrook Park District table to enter our free weekly prize drawings and maybe get a fun giveaway item too!
Drop in for Tot Open Play at the Leisure Center! Our mats, hoops, balls and toddler-friendly equipment are perfect for ages 5 and under. Children are invited to play with others or by themselves if they prefer and must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Enjoy Open Hockey for high school students and adults at Northbrook Sports Center on Fridays! Full equipment is required. All players must sign in and pay at the front desk at Northbrook Sports Center.
